“A Slow Day in the Woods” invites young readers to wander through a whimsical forest filled with playful creatures and hidden wonders. The book introduces basic mindfulness techniques through a calm, immersive visual journey — encouraging children (and parents) to slow down, observe, and find joy in the small details of nature.
Each page is intricately illustrated to reward curiosity and discovery. Whether it’s the mischievous mushroom man dashing through the undergrowth or the secret thumbs-up plant peeking from behind a fern, there’s always something new to find each time the book is opened.
I believe that connecting with nature from an early age nurtures curiosity — a spark that grows into a lifelong love of learning and wonder about the world.
My illustration style focuses on playful characters and lush, detailed environments inspired by the natural world. Every scene begins as a pencil sketch, which I refine and ink using a brush pen to capture organic, expressive lines. Once the linework is scanned, I digitally colour and shade each illustration, layering warmth and texture to bring the illustration to life.
The intended outcome is a gentle invitation for children to explore, imagine, and feel more deeply connected to the world around them.
